Daniel L. Altchuler, DPM, of Santa Monica, California, has been elected President of the California Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA), the nation’s largest podiatric medical association. Dr. Altchuler took

 

office at the conclusion of CPMA’s 96th Annual House of Delegates in Anaheim, California at the end of June.

 

A Diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics, a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, Dr. Altchuler was elected to the CPMA Board of Directors in 2001, after serving a two-year term as President of the Los Angeles County Podiatric Medical Society.  Dr. Altchuler’s tenure on the CPMA Board has been an active and successful one, with him serving on a number of the organization’s committees and taskforces. 

 

A native of Los Angeles, Dr. Altchuler received his Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Social Sciences from Santa Monica City College, after which he went to California State University Long Beach where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing.  He earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1975.  Currently, Dr. Altchuler practices in Santa Monica, California and is on staff at Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center.

 

Specializing in podiatric orthopedics, athletic injuries and enhancement, and gait disorders, Dr. Altchuler has served as a podiatric medical expert and consultant on a number of sports teams and event medical staffs, including the United States Triathlon Championships, Olympic Youth Volleyball Tournament, XV World Games for the Deaf, as well as Road Racing Events of the Twenty-Third Olympiad, 1984 Los Angeles Summer Games.  He has served as a footwear consultant and adviser for both Nike and Avia.  Dr. Altchuler currently serves as podiatric medical consultant to a number of Los Angeles area running and walking clubs.

Daniel Altchuler, DPM, 61, is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including being listed in Who’s Who in the West; Personalities of America, Who’s Who in California and Men of Achievement.  

 

An ardent animal lover and avid advocate on their behalf, Dr. Altchuler lives with his wife Eileen Haworth, DC, in Topanga Canyon, California with their menagerie of horses and dogs, which Dr. Altchuler trains and shows in agility events.
