Dr. Karen Wrubel, DPM, FACFAS, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the California Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA) during the organization’s 95th Annual House of Delegates meeting, which took place in Anaheim in June.

 

A private practitioner in partnership with her husband and colleague Dr. Derick Ball in Hawthorne, California, Dr. Wrubel is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFA) and is board certified by ABPS (American Board of Podiatric Surgery) in foot surgery.  A graduate of the University of Michigan where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1978, Dr. Wrubel received her medical training at Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, where she earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree in 1984.  The following year she completed her Surgical Preceptorship at Pomona’s West End Podiatry Group.

 

A Qualified Medical Examiner and Diplomate of the National Board of Podiatry Examiners, Dr. Wrubel has had a number of high ranking appointments including Vice Chairman, Podiatry Section Community Hospital of Gardena (1997-99); Chair, Credentials Committee Hawthorne Hospital (1995-97); and Chair, Hawthorne Hospital – Podiatry Section (1992-93).  Her most recent appointment was by California’s Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to the Board of Podiatric Medicine, the state’s licensing and regulatory agency for doctors of podiatric medicine, where she currently serves as a director-at-large.

 

In addition to CPMA, Dr. Wrubel holds membership in the American Podiatric Medical Association, Los Angeles County Podiatric Medical Society, the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American Professional Wound Care Association.  Her hospital affiliations include Centinela Hospital Medical Center (Inglewood), Memorial Hospital of Gardena (Gardena), Little Company of Manry Hospital (Torrance) and Health South Surgicenter of the South Bay (Torrance).

 

An avid runner, Dr. Wrubel enjoys traveling and cooking.  She resides with her husband Dr. Derick Ball - the recipient of CPMA’s 2007 Society President of the Year Award for his leadership of the Los Angeles County Podiatric Medical Society - and their seven-year old daughter Tea (pronounced Teeya) at their home in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
