Elected CPMA President

 

Michael Cornelison, DPM, has been elected president of the California Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA).  The presidential gavel was passed to Cornelison during the Association’s 98th Annual House of Delegates

 

 

this past June in Anaheim, California.  The state’s leading professional society for foot and ankle specialists, CPMA represents podiatric physicians from California’s Oregon to Mexico borders. 

 

Dr. Cornelison served as president of the Santa Clara Valley Podiatric Medical Society before being elected to the CPMA Board as a Director-at-Large, where he rose rapidly through the ranks of the Executive Board; serving as Vice President and President-Elect before taking the Presidential gavel this past June.  Active in the podiatric medical community Dr. Cornelison has participated on many local, state and national committees dealing with healthcare issues.

 

A board certified podiatric physician and surgeon, Dr. Cornelison is a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (ABPS) and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS).  He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), after which he attended the Dr. William M. Scholl of Podiatric Medicine in Illinois where he earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree, Summa Cum Laude.  Dr. Cornelison completed his surgical residency at Northern Virginia Podiatric Residency Program at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax Virginia, which was sponsored by the prestigious Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.

 

A former Chief of the Department of Podiatry at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, Dr. Cornelison is in private practice in Cupertino.  He resides in Los Gatos with his wife Nancy and their three daughters.
