Completion of 2017 Economic Census Required


CPMA has learned that the U.S. Census Bureau has contacted medical practices asking that they complete the 2017 Economic Census. The economic census data, which is collected once every five years, aims to be an accurate measurement of the nation’s economy and individual industries. Furthermore, public policies and programs rely on census outcomes.

Any business that receives the letter is required by law to electronically provide the requested information according to the letter’s instructions. Failure to submit information may lead to a penalty of up to $5,000. A  penalty of up to $10,000 can be assessed if it is found that incorrect information was intentionally provided.
