URGENT: License Renewal Notice

URGENT: License Renewal Notice

In order to meet a projected funding shortfall, the Board of Podiatric Medicine (BPM) has requested and received statutory authority to add an additional $200 to each licensee upon renewal during 2019 and 2020, so that the BPM’s “fund condition” could meet the minimum amounts mandated by law. This new law becomes effective on January 1, 2019. Doctors whose licenses come due for renewal in January 2019 will not receive the usual 3-month prior automatic renewal notice due to the system that generates the renewals notices is undergoing reprogramming and is unable to accommodate any changes at this time. The system should once again be able to generate early renewal notices beginning in January 2019.

At that time, BPM expects that all licensees renewing within the month of January 2019 will receive their first renewal notice toward the beginning of January 2019 and will be able to renew online (preferred) during the month of January 2019 at www.bpm.ca.gov, or by responding to the written notice which will be sent in January. The BPM expects that you will be able to renew within this shortened period. The BPM will not be able to extend deadlines for renewal.

1. BPM has been allowed to charge an additional $200 per licensee starting on January 1, 2019 and ending on December 31, 2020.

2. Upon renewal, each licensee during this period will pay the $200 with the existing $900 renewal fee, and the $12 CURES fee for a total of $1112.

3. The automatic renewal notices which you have received in the past will NOT be sent to you during the preceding months to your deadline for renewal but will be sent to you during your month of renewal, January 2019 – and you will be required to promptly renew to avoid late fees.
